Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The greatest left-winger in the history of the National Hockey League by our books and quite possibly the greatest player in the nearly 100 year history of the Chicago Blackhawks, offered here is this collection of nine (9) Bobby Hull cards ranging from 1964-65 to 1979-80 from both O-Pee-Chee and Topps with most having been graded. Starting with the slabbed cards, the group is led condition wise by two PSA 8 NM-MT offerings in older holders from the company including a 1969-70 Topps #70 and a 1971-72 Topps #50 which has also been marked “OC” for off-centre on the label due to the reverse centring. Beckett slabs make up the rest of the graded cards including a 1967-68 Topps #113 that has earned an EXCELLENT 5, a 1966-67 Topps #64 League Leaders card at a VG-EX+ 4.5 and a 1964-65 Topps #20 at VG-EX 4. The last graded card is a 1994 Parkhurst Tall Boys Autographs card of the hard shooting Hull that has been demmed worthy of a VERY GOOD 3. Serial numbered “809/964” on the reverse, the autograph at the bottom is heavily faded. The last three cards in the group include raw examples of Hull’s 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee WHA card #50, picturing him as a member of the Winnipeg Jets, that is in the condition range of EX to EX+ and is miscut on the reverse, as well as his 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee #185 offering that appears to be in the vicinity of EX+ to EX-MT. The last card, is a Blackhawks team logo card from 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee that Hull has signed with a bold blue ink signature that appears without issue.
