Jean Ratelle played the game with a quiet grace that made his dominance that much more
impressive. Over 16 seasons with the New York Rangers, he became one of the franchise’s
most beloved figures, known for his crisp passing, calm under pressure, and scoring touch. His
1971-72 season remains legendary—109 points in just 63 games before a broken ankle robbed
him of a potential MVP season. Even so, Ratelle’s impact on the Rangers was undeniable, and
in 2018, the team honored his legacy by retiring his number 19 to the rafters of Madison Square
Garden.
Offered here is a 1961-62 Topps Jean Ratelle rookie card, graded PSA 8. This pop-59 card is
only bettered by 15 others on the PSA population report out of the 318 submitted to PSA over
the years, making it a standout example of a sought-after rookie. The PSA holder shows a few
faint scratches on both the front and back, but remains in excellent condition overall.
