Montreal oldtimers fondly recall the glorious days of the Triple A Royals, a team forever etched in the minds of many as the springboard to the bigs for the legendary Jackie Robinson, and a team that groomed many major leaguers over the years that came to a final halt in 1960. We have an Official International League "Frank Shaughnessy" ball signed by 20 members of the 1949 Royals squad, a team that would win the Governor's Cup that year, although they couldn't quite get it done in the Junior World Series. All signatures are in clear blue ink and include Chuck Connors, who would go on to television fame as "The Rifleman", plus All-Stars Toby Atwell, Rocky Bridges, Gino Cimoli, Bobby Morgan and Oscar Grimes. Beautiful ball in every way. Others who have penned their names include Bankhead, DiBlasi, Gionfriddo, Himes, Jethroe (IL stolen base leader), King, Lare, Lee, Lembo, Morgan (1949 batting champion and league MVP), Schmees, Thompson, Van Cuyk, and Wahl.
