Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
The greatest player to ever grace the game of hockey throughout its entire history, Wayne Gretzky would suit up for a total of nine (9) years with the Edmonton Oilers to the tune of 696 games. Registering a total of 583 goals, 1086 assists and 1669 points over that time and leading the Oilers to a quartet of Stanley Cup championships, offered here is this early-1980s "Frozen Pond" Nike poster that features "The Great One" ands been signed by him as well. Measuring out to full dimensions of 25 1/2" x 17" and having been pasted down to a ply board backing, the poster pictures Wayne early on in his National Hockey League career in an orange Oilers practice jersey on a frozen pin with open ice all around him and only one other unidentified patron in the background. Sporting a white border all the way around it with the Nike logo gracing the bottom right corner and "Gretzky" along the bottom left in blue letters, Gretzky has signed over the image with a blue ballpoint pen ink signature that displays without issue. Also having added an inscription/personalization above that reads "To Mark, Your Friend" in matching ink, the piece remains in good condition with some wear to the corners and edges as well as some scratches over the surface that is worth mentioning for accuracy. A Shawn Caulk LOA will accompany the piece.
