This Czechoslovakian national team sweater was worn by the late Vladimir Dzurilla, winner of 10 world championship medals, including three gold and three silver. Among Vladimir's three Olympic medals is a silver from Grenoble in 1968 though he is best remembered in North America for shutting out Team Canada in the 1976 Canada Cup. He was posthumously inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 1998, three years after his death from a heart attack. This blue cotton gamer which displays a smaller version of the country's lion crest on the front saw international duty in the late-1960s/early 1970s, though we are unable to determine the exact year. Nicely preserved it features vibrant red, white and blue in the knit tie-neck collar. Dzurilla's number "1" in white-and-red woven fabric on a beige felt outline is sewn on the back and on both sleeves. There are two small holes on the right sleeve and light game wear includes a small black mark on the left sleeve. Please note that this jersey was obtained amid a large collection of European game-worn jerseys previously acquired by Classic Auctions and we have reason to believe that it may have originally come from the Dzurilla family collection. A Classic Auctions LOA is included.
