This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The brainchild of the Patrick brothers and a member of their Pacific Coast Hockey Association, the Victoria Hockey Club were re-christened the Aristocrats for 1912-13, with the club challenging the Toronto Blue Shirts for the Stanley Cup the following season. The team included future Hall-of-Famers Tommy Dunderdale and the great Lester Patrick, with both players pictured and identified in white print on this vintage real photo team postcard of the famous and short-lived club. Also included are nine individual player postcards with Patrick and Dunderdale, along with Bert Lindsay, Walter Smaill, Jack Ulrich, Slanner Poulin, Goldie Prodgers, Bobby Genge and Bobby Rowe, along with an unidentified 10th individual Aristocrats postcard.
Each postcard feature’s a divided postal reverse, with some having names handwritten in pencil, with paper remnants over the reverse of the unidentified postcard from scrapbook removal. Each of the named player postcards sport a centralized pinhole, with toning, edge wear and the odd surface wrinkle the main areas affecting condition. The team postcard also exhibits rounded corners.
