A broad spectrum of official documents from both the NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs can be found in this intriguing lot which spans from the late-1950s to mid-1980s. This grouping includes a 1957 contract-related letter signed by Howie Meeker (d-2020) and Dave Reid, a stand-by pay receipt for Bob Nevin signed by Billy Reay (d-2004), a 1958 Standard Assignment Agreement signed by HOFer James C. Hendy (d-1961), a 1976 letter of consideration agreement signed by both Randy Carlyle and HOFer Jim Gregory (d-2019), a 1984 disciplinary letter with HOFer Brian O’Neill’s signature, and more. All documents measure approximately 8.5” x 11” except the standby receipt, which is 4 7/8” x 5”. Overall condition on these pieces is strong with occasional mild creases, staple holes, ink smudges, and folds.
Also included in this lot is a 1974 Standard Assignment Agreement for Michel Plante which is signed by St. Louis Blues coach Lou Angotti. Finally, we have an Addendum to National Hockey League Player’s Termination contract for Barry Melrose which was signed by the future coach and broadcaster along with Maple Leafs executives Gerry McNamara and Gord Stellick.
