Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/5/2013
Red, white and blue felt and a sensational New York Americans chenille crest combine on one side here, with the names of the 1937-38 Amerks spelled out in scripted white chain-stitching on the other summing up to a very special piece from the fascinating collection of Americans' trainer Tommy Bell. Hall-of-Famers Nels Stewart, Ching Johnson, Sweeney Schriner, "Happy" Day and Hooley Smith are among the players who Bell tended to that season, with "Tom Bell" and "1937-38", the latter in white felt, in the middle of the back of the cushion-like display, presented to the appreciated trainer. Sturdy cardboard can be felt between the red and blue felt, with the frilled-edge affair measuring approximately 23" square. Preserved in outstanding condition with vivid colors, it's an eye-catching shocker and fine complement to Mr. Bell's other '37-38 mementos.
