A stalwart defender, winning the James Norris Memorial Trophy for his peerless defence during the 1958-59 NHL season, Tom Johnson spent the majority of his HOF career in Montreal, and won six Stanley Cup championships with the Habs. This stick used by the two-time All-Star in 1962-63 has been team-signed by the Montreal Canadiens. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model with “Johnson” and “10” stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains the original black tape over the blade and knob, with the striping accent now gone. Just very light game-use is exhibited on the vintage lumber, with a loose tape strand to the blade and a few marks to the shaft. 15 have signed the front side shaft, including Johnson, as well as fellow deceased HOF members Henri Richard, Jacques Plante, Jean Beliveau, Dickie Moore and Boom Boom Geoffrion.
The additional signers include Provost, Hicke, Backstrom, Gauthier, JC Tremblay, Goyette, Fontinato and Red Berenson. The signatures remain completely dark with no issues, with the Plante signature a “J Plante” example, as opposed to a full name signature. We should also note that the possibility exists of the stick originating from the 1961-62 NHL season.
