The Hall of Fame opened its doors to Tim Raines this year and this lot featuring Rock’s 1980 Expos game-worn jersey is a great way to celebrate the seven-time NL All-Star’s amazing career in Montreal. Raines, who pinch ran in six games with the Expos in 1979, played 15 more games for Montreal in 1980 and stole five bases; one year later he set an NL rookie record with 71 steals and was runner-up in voting for NL Rookie of the Year. Four more items, each signed by Raines, include his Expos game-worn baseball cap and batting helmet, as well as an 8x10 photo of him in action with the Expos and an Expos No. 30 Cooperstown Collection jersey with the 1982 All-Star Game patch.
Raines’ 1980 Expos game-worn jersey features his retired number 30, which is sewn on the back and right breast in red twill. Rawlings size 40 tagging inside the right front tail has a "Set 1, 1980" flag tag. The jersey has stains on the back of the upper left sleeve and upper back and black marks near the back of the left cuff and there are marks on the Expos logo sewn on the front in red, white and blue triple twill.
Raines has signed in black marker on the front of his 1980s Expos game-worn cap which has New Era and size 7 1/8 tagging inside the brim and his number "30" written in black marker inside the front. The inner brim of the cap has good sweat soiling.
Raines has included his nickname “Rock” and “#30” in his silver paint pen autograph on the brim of this Expos game-worn batting helmet that displays nice wear in the form of various marks and scuffs, and wear to the original inner padding. The American Baseball Cap size 7 1/8 sticker remains inside the top of the helmet.
Raines has signed in bold blue marker on an 8x10 photo of him in his powder blue Expos road uniform in full stride on the basepaths.
Raines has signed in blue marker on the rear tail of the Expos No. 30 jersey with the 1982 All-Star Game patch sewn on the left sleeve. A JSA sticker is applied to the Cooperstown Collection Majestic tagging on the left front tail. Cooperstown Collection and size XL flag tags are in the back of the neck.
