Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Combining exceptional face-off abilities with considerable scoring prowess, Stan Mikita was arguably the game’s best centerman at the peak of his career in the mid-to-late-1960s, with a pair of back-to-back Hart Memorial Trophies won in 1967 and 1968. We have a “banana hook” stick used by the Slovak during the mid-to-late-1960s, circa 1966-68. Originally made for Kenny Wharram with his name stamped over the shaft along with “17”, this Northland Custom Pro Glass Fused model has stamps from supplier “Gunzo’s” over each side of the shaft, with the original black tape over the blade and white over the custom-shaved handle. With a partially-intact striping accent, one side of the stick has been shaved down from the lower shaft to the heel section, with great use exhibited including wear to the underside of the blade along with marks to the lower shaft and traces of red paint transfer over the upper shaft.
