The Black Hawks’ all-time assists (926) and points (1,467) leader, HOF center and four-time Art Ross Trophy winner Stan Mikita scored 541 goals and claimed the Hart Trophy twice. Stan’s late-1960s Black Hawks CCM Custom Pattern Made Pro game-used stick “Gunzo's” supplier stamp on one side of the shaft with the Berwyn, IL location. “Mikita” is stamped on the shaft below Stan’s typical corn-dog style knob wrapped in creamy cloth tape that has aged well. A faint "21" stamp sits lower on the shaft. The blade with a more moderate "hook" is covered more towards the center in vintage oily bulldog-style tape. Game use shows in black marks low on the shaft and wear on the bottom edge of the blade.
The tape job on the bottom edge of the blade has mostly worn through and there is exposed wood on the bottom edge of the heel where the fiberglass wore away. There is a small gouged chip on the edge of the shaft adjacent to the “Mikita” stamp, and a chip lower down the chip on the opposite edge.
The Berwyn address for the “Gunzo’s” stamp helps to date the stick because the store burned in 1970 and was moved to River Forest.
