Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
From his Art Ross, Hart Memorial and Ted Lindsay Award-winning season of 2013-14, one that witnessed 104 points scored including 36 goals, we have a signed and photo-matched Pittsburgh Penguins “St. Patrick’s Day” warm-up worn captain’s jersey, donned by Sidney Crosby. A CCM label with “56” sizing is affixed to the collar, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and reverse neckline respectively. Styled with the familiar Penguins team crest in solid green and white, “87” appears over the sleeves and verso in green tackle twill numbers with white and orange trim, along with matching shamrock crests over each shoulder. There is also an American flag over the right upper sleeve, with a corresponding Irish flag over the left. Sid has signed within the reverse “7” in black marker, with no issues for the signature. The team patch is situated over the inside hem, with a matching LOA from the Penguins to accompany along with a letter from the Lemieux Foundation.
Worn only during the warm-up of the St. Patrick’s Day game played on March 16th vs Philadelphia, no discernible game-wear is visible, with the jersey remaining in gorgeous condition. Getty Image #479797181 from March 16th has been matched to the small loose white threads on the top middle inside portion of the “8” over the left sleeve, as well as to the loose threads on the lower portion, and to the visible loose thread in the middle section (white) of the Ireland patch.
