Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Following in the political footsteps of his older brother, Robert Kennedy first started as a lawyer at the Justice Department, later resigning to manage John’s bid for the US Senate before running his presidential election campaign in 1960. Seeking the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 1968, Kennedy was shot and mortally wounded by Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan, succumbing to his injuries the next day. We have a typed signed letter from the former United States Attorney General, accompanied by the original mailing envelope. At 6” x 9” and on US Senate letterhead, the Jan 23rd, 1968 correspondence thanked an individual on Mrs Kennedy’s and his behalf. Signed as “Bob Kennedy”, the black ink signature remains dark with no issues. Assassinated just a few months after the scripting of this signature, an LOA from PSA/DNA will accompany.
The letter exhibits expected folds lines along with just some light, honest handling wear, with the Feb 2nd 1968 postmarked envelope in comparable condition.
