Perhaps the only hockey player to have ever been born in Venezuela, Rick Chartraw skated for seven seasons in Montreal winning four Cups, with a fifth championship garnered while a member of the Edmonton Oilers in 1984. This original Prince of Wales trophy was produced for the NHL by Boffey and presented to Chartraw in recognition of Montreal’s status as first overall during the regular season in the Wales Conference. The H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy plaque on the front of the 2" high wood base has Chartraw’s full name engraved, while a plaque on the reverse reads, "N.H.L Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1976-77". The trophy stands just over 13" tall, with the lid removable. An LOA will accompany.
Heavy oxidation is present throughout, with loss to the finish in a number of areas. We should also note that the trophy is currently loose from the base, but the bolts are present, allowing the trophy to sits properly and display perfectly.
