Petr Klima played a big role in sending the Edmonton Oilers on their way to their fifth Stanley Cup title in the spring of 1990. Benched for long stretches of the first game of the final at Boston Garden, Klima scored with fresh legs 15:13 into the third overtime. The Oilers went on to beat the Bruins in five games for their first Cup win without Wayne Gretzky. This magnificent gold and diamond creation presented to Petr commemorates the Oilers dyansty's crowning achievement. After a 90-point regular season, the Oilers first had to come through with three straight wins to overcome a 3-1 series deficit and beat the Jets in a seven-game opening-round series. A satisfying sweep of Gretz and the Kings followed and a six-game win over the Black Hawks put Edmonton in the Cup final for the sixth time in eight years. Klima's triple-overtime winner set the stage and Craig Simpson delivered the cup winner in the second period of Game 5 at the Boston Garden. Goaltender Bill Ranford's playoff heroics earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy and Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Kevin Lowe, Charlie Huddy and Randy Gregg joined captain Mark Messier in winning their fifth Stanley Cup rings as members of the Oilers. Five large diamonds are surrounded by 16 smaller ones on the face of this gorgeous creation, with the year and "Stanley Cup Champions" encircling them in raised gold on the bezel. The Oilers logo sits in the middle of the left shank with "Klima" above it, all in raised gold, along with Petr's number "85" at the bottom. The right shank displays "5 Stanley Cup Championships" across the top with an image of Lord Stanley's silverware on the right, the 1990 final's result in the middle, and a motivational carrot on the left with each of the Oilers' five Cup championship years on it. Incredible ring weighs about 32 grams and "Jostens 14K" is stamped inside the size 10 1/2 band. Beautifully preserved, with most of its obviously proud wear showing in light scratches and scuffs on the back of the band, this ultimate championship ring from the Edmonton Oilers' Stanley Cup dynasty comes with Petr Klima's signed letter of authenticity.
