Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A four-time Stanley Cup champion, Patrick Roy is the only player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy three times. The iconic netminder was also voted as the greatest goaltender in NHL history by a panel of 41 writers along with a simultaneous fan poll, in 2004. The model of stick used by Roy in 1996-97 and 1997-98, this particular KOHO game-used and signed example was gifted from the superstar directly to our consignor, Ken Daniels. A sportscaster with CBC from 1985 to 1997, Daniels is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit. St Patrick has signed over the front side paddle in black marker, and the signature displays well despite the dark background. An LOA from Ken Daniels will accompany.
“Roy” appears over the upper shaft, with part of the “R” covered, with the original white tape over the blade and knob, and black over the handle and upper shaft. Great use is exhibited with heavy wear and numerous marks to the taped section of blade including a few tears, with dark marks visible over the paddle and shaft.
