Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
First coming to the attention of the Boston Bruins while playing in a youth hockey tournament in Ontario just as he was turning 13, Bobby Orr would then see 4 seasons in Oshawa with the Generals beginning in 1962 as a 14-year old, competing against players 3 to 4 years his senior, with 280 points posted in just 193 OHA games. Posting a record of 22-18-8 with Orr making the OHA's First All-Star Team, Oshawa would defeat St. Cathrines, Montreal and Kitchener during the playoffs to win the OHA Playoffs and then North Bay and Shawinigan in the Eastern Canada Memorial Cup Playoffs to set up a Memorial Cup Final against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Offered here, we present this stick team-signed by eighteen (18) members of the 1965-66 Oshawa Generals. A Victoriaville made twig that has had "6 Right" stamped to the upper shaft, no tape has ever been applied to the handle/knob or blade and the accent stickers have been long lost to time. In overall good condition despite wear to the heel area on the bottom of the blade plus some marks and abrasions throughout that are heaviest over the blade as well, the stick has been signed over one side in black marker by the likes of Danny O'Shea, Barry Wilkins, Bep Guidilon (coach), Paul Cadieux, Bill White, Bill Little, Bob Black, Jim Whittaker, Bobby Orr, Chris Roberts, Wayne Cashman, Ian Young, Bill Heindle, Chris Hayes, Gord Myles (trainer), Peter Nevin and a pair of others. With the signatures originally obtained by then Generals General Manager, Wren Blair, according to the accompanying LOA signed by his son, Dan Blair, the signatures appear well despite their age while it is worth noting that there is some smudging over some, including the autograph of Wayne Cashman.
