Venezuelan baseball fans had reason to celebrate after the Navegantes del Magallanes won the 1978-79 Caribbean Series. Managed by DH Willie Horton, and led by the stellar pitching of Oakland’s Mike Norris, Magallanes beat out teams from the Dominican Republic, Mexico and host Puerto Rico in the 12-game tournament to take top winter ball honors. This Navegantes del Magallanes 1978-79 “Campeon de Venezuela y del Caribe” championship sterling silver ring features a blue stone set in the tableau. The player initials “ED” are stamped on the inner band of the size 8 ring, which has an approximate weight of 21 grams. Nicely preserved with sharp details, it comes in a ring box with an LOA.
“Magallanes B.B.C. Campeon 1978-79” is spelled out around the outer edge of the bezel, with “De Venezuela y del Caribe” on the inner edge of the bezel. The left shank displays “78” across the top above the Magallanes team crest, and “79” above a crest on the right shank. Proud wear shows in various surface scratches and a few nicks to the edges of the band.
