Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Finishing first overall during the second-last Original Six season in 1965-66, the Montreal Canadiens were led by Bobby Rousseau on the scoresheet, and they would need six games to defeat a strong Gordie Howe-led Detroit squad to claim their second-consecutive Stanley Cup championship. We have a team photo of the victorious 1965-66 Habs, with these examples originally given to the players. At 10” x 13” and somewhat faded, the full team and management are pictured in the traditional on-ice pose, with both the Stanley Cup and Prince of Wales Trophy front and center. The photographer Arnott Roger Barton has signed over the lower right in pencil, with the photo in its original 16 ¼” x 19 ¾” frame.
A label from Rolland Picture Frame is affixed to the lower reverse, with “1966-67” (crossed out) and “1965-66” handwritten. As mentioned, the image is quite faded, with a few very small spots that have peeled away and are affixed to the glass. The image also exhibits even crazing throughout, with moderate to heavier wear to the frame itself.
