Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Originating from the glorious early-1950s era of Montreal hockey that witnessed the rise of many noteworthy stars and HOFers including Jean Beliveau, Jacques Plante and Doug Harvey, we have a stick team-signed by the Montreal Canadiens in 1950-51. A Jimmy McNiece “Super Special” Hand Made model, “23” appears on the upper shaft along with a stamp from team supplier Kenny Grant-Johnny Bennett, with a 1934 patent date listed just above the heel section. 18 have signed one-side of the shaft with “1950-51” handwritten in 2 spots, including deceased HOFers Richard, Lach, Harvey, Bouchard, Geoffrion, Olmstead and Tom Johnson. The signatures display well with minor fading, with the stick itself remaining in absolutely gorgeous condition.
Others who have added their John Hancock to this 1950-51 team-signed Habs stick includes Mosdell, MacKay, Curry, Reay, Dussault, MacPherson, Harmon, Meger, Dawes, Robert and Gerry McNeil. Coach Dick Irvin also appears, but this is not an actual signature from the HOFer. We should also note additional signatures on the reverse side of the shaft, with “Kinsmen Legion Pee Wee Hockey League” and “Kamloops, BC” handwritten in green ink.
