Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Hockey’s most successful club, the Montreal Canadiens also played in the game’s most celebrated building in the Montreal Forum, with an endless plethora of historical relics, photos, trophies and displays once gracing the iconic venue, including the offered wooden plaque for the 1946-47 Canadiens which appears to match the specimens famously displayed in the Habs dressing room. At approx 13” x 15” and featuring a dark finish with beveled edges, a full colour Habs logo graces the top center, flanked by “1946” and “1947”, with all team members listed in two rows beneath in gold leaf, including iconic HOFers Rocket Richard, Butch Bouchard, Elmer Lach and others. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
The plaque sports a pair of holes for mounting, with light surface wear overall, with some additional wear along with crazing to the surface along the sides and bottom edge. There is also silicone residue on the reverse from its former mounting.
