One of the most successful American-born goaltenders, Mike Richter enjoyed over a dozen seasons in Manhattan, winning a Stanley Cup in 1994. The Pennsylvania native was also a major thorn in the side of Canadians, earning MVP status while winning gold at the 1996 World Cup. This signed stick is the model used by Richter from circa 1991-92 to 1994-95 – including in the 1994 Stanley Cup-champion season - with this specific example gifted from the superstar directly to our consignor, Ken Daniels. A sportscaster with CBC from 1985 to 1997, Daniels is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit. A Victoriaville Pro model, “M. Richter” appears stamped-on, with the original white tape over the blade and knob in place, along with the NHL decal over the handle. An LOA from Ken Daniels will accompany.
Thorough use is exhibited, with heavy puck marks to the taped section of blade along with wear to the underside, with heavy chipping/cracking to the top edge of the paddle. There is also some red paint transfer over the taped section of blade, with a few visible age cracks to the shaft. Despite this, the stick remains completely solid.
