Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Still considered the greatest upset in modern sport, the Miracle on Ice is highly venerated and collected, with any and all memorabilia representing the iconic Olympic performance constantly sought after. We have a wonderful grouping of 1980 Team USA Olympic memorabilia, and thankfully, it has the added provenance of hailing from the collection of Miracle superstar Mark Pavelich. Included, we have a score sheet from the famous victory over the Russians, along with a Herb Brooks lithograph, followed by a Lake Placid folder and a pair of Frank Becerra prints (different sizes). Next, we have a 1980 folder for receipts along with 2 sets of 1980 Olympic stamps along with a cookbook and schedule of events. Lastly, we have a pair of 1980 Olympic bags, with a smaller example made by Revlon along with a slightly larger canvas example with 1980 Lake Placid graphics. A signed LOA from Mr. Pavelich will accompany.
The score sheet is matted to full dimensions of roughly 11 ½” x 14” with light wear, while the Herb Brooks litho is 20” x 29” with denting/creasing along each side. The Becerra prints (7” x 10” and 15” x 16”) both exhibit wear, with the larger example stained and creased with tape added to adhere to a backboard. The Lake Placid folder (most likely used originally to house Pavelich’s Olympic diploma), receipt folder and stamp books all remain in pleasing condition, with wear to the Receipt folder including edge tears. The Revlon Olympic toiletry bag has wear from use, along with the larger canvas Lake Placid tote bag with toning to the now off-white surface.
