This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Historic pair of game-used items included Luc Robitaille’s last L.A. Kings helmet and one of his specially-designated final batch of game-used sticks. Robitaille signed in black marker on the front of the white CCM helmet he wore for his last NHL game on April 17, 2006, a 4-0 win over San Jose. Also featured is one of the 60 sticks Robitaille had made up for, and used, in his final three games at the end of the 2005-06 season, including his last Kings home game against Phoenix on April 13th. Robitaille placed a black marker signature across his white tape job on the front of the blade, which features his distinctive shaved-flat heel. Please see our website description for more information about the items in this historic lot which comes with Luc Robitaille’s signed LOA. Robitaille’s visor was removed from the helmet and is not included here. The Kings logo decals remain affixed to both sides of the helmet and his number “20” decals, the “Ace-Mark” Kings decal and NHL shield decal remain on the back. The helmet’s chin strap is attached and “Last Game” is written in black marker on the top panel of padding inside the helmet, which displays sweat stains and expected soiling from game use. Robitaille’s tape jobs remain on the knob and blade of his Warrior Dolomite gamer. This one-piece composite stick has the notation “Last Game” in black marker on the back of the taped knob. Kings trainer Peter Millar’s initials and the special symbol he placed on each of the 60 game sticks he prepared for Robitaille to use over his last three games appear in white paint pen below the tape job on the back of the upper shaft. He used 20 of these sticks for each of the final three games and this one is numbered “47” of this unique set of 60 gamers.
