The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Some may not be aware of it but likely won't be surprised to read that Jean Beliveau also excelled at baseball. In fact, it was because of baseball and not hockey that Beliveau first left home. After declining a Class C contract that would have landed him in Alabama, the following summer saw the 16-year old Beliveau head to Val d'Or, Quebec and the Abitibi Senior League where his pitching arm and hitting skills were very much appreciated. This Wilson Al Kaline autograph model is not from that period but from the mid-to-late 1950's when Beliveau suited up for the Canadiens' ball team. Glove does indeed show use and has "J.B." penned beside the Wilson label and a faint "Beliveau" on the inner ring finger. In terrific condition, the glove will be accompanied by a photo of Beliveau in his Habs ball uniform and his signed LOA.
