The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
This superb Wilson dureen red knit Canadiens road jersey was done up for Jean Beliveau for use in one of his earlier Oldtimer games. There was an obvious number change with the outline of "23" on the sleeves easily visible. A couple of 2-inch team repairs on the left sleeve, another 4-inch vertical repair on the back near the left shoulder and significant interior pilling suggest that this was game worn in NHL play, with Bob Murdoch and Bob Gainey being the possibilities. White satin "4"s are sewn on the sleeves while the "4" on the back has become tattered around the edges. A similar white-on-blue captain's "C" is sewn on the front along with the nylon tri-color Habs crest. Wilson company tag in the neck indicates size 46. Vintage lace makes its way through the six eyelets. Intriguing vintage Canadiens jersey is from Jean Beliveau's personal collection and will be accompanied by his signed letter of authenticity.
