The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
The leader of the Montreal Canadiens' "quiet" dynasty of the 1960's, 37-year old Jean Beliveau struck for 33 goals and 82 points in the regular season before contributing 15 points (5 goals) in the playoffs as the Habs won their 4th Stanley Cup in 5 years in the spring of 1969. Beliveau's 500th career goal, regular season and playoffs combined, was scored Thurday, October 20, 1968 in Detroit. The towering center led the Habs to a 4-2 win with 2 goals and an assist. His 1st of the game was his 432nd regular season goal and put Montreal ahead 2-1 at the 23-second mark of the 2nd period. The goal on Roger Crozier was assisted by Yvan Cournoyer and John Ferguson. Beliveau later added a 3rd period insurance goal. The milestone puck is an Art Ross/Converse Red Wings puck with "Converse Rubber Co." beneath "Puck" underneath the piece of white tape with details penned by Beliveau himself and applied over the back logo. Excellent condition with a couple of skate slices to mention. The Canadiens' "Mr. Everything" for over 40 years, Jean Beliveau will sign a letter of authenticity that will accompany this terrific relic.
