The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
After reaching the 400-goal plateau earlier in the season as well as breaking Maurice Richard's record for most points by a Montreal Canadien, Jean Beliveau reached the 20-goal mark for the 10th time of his career on Thursday, February 1, 1968. This is the puck Beliveau did it with in a 5-2 home ice win over the Rangers. Beliveau set up goals by Dick Duff and Yvan Cournoyer in the 1st period and then iced the victory by sliding this biscuit into an empty net with 23 seconds left to go. Gilles and J.C. Tremblay assisted as the Habs made it 11 straight wins and 15 games without a loss. The Art Ross/Converse Canadiens game puck with rubber-crested logos then had a piece of white tape applied to the back with the date and "419 Buts" (goals) added. Puck is in great shape and will come with a plaque that we had done up at the request of Mr. Beliveau. The lucky high bidder will have the choice to mount the puck or not. From Jean Beliveau's personal collection, this marvellous keepsake will come with his signed LOA.
