The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
After a somewhat disappointing loss to Toronto the previous year during Canada's centennial year, the Montreal Canadiens rebounded the following season to recapture the Stanley Cup for the 3rd time in 4 years. In the first year of expansion, Jean Beliveau led the team with 68 points and the Canadiens finished atop the new East Division. In the playoffs, Montreal swept past Boston, took care of Chicago in 5 games and then had no problem with St. Louis in the finals, registering another 4-game sweep. Jean-Claude Tremblay had the distinction of scoring the Cup-winning goal, midway through the 3rd period of the Habs' 3-2 clinching victory. This wonderous souvenir representing Jean Beliveau's 8th Stanley Cup victory includes the names of the champions engraved on the trophy's barrel. Among them is that of Toe Blake, who retired after this season with a coaching-record of 8 Stanley Cup titles. Trophy is in excellent condition with some tarnish and silver loss on the bowl at the top. Yet another beauty to be considered for your mantle! Jean Beliveau's signed letter of authenticity will be included with this tempting keepsake.
