the NHL. Signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1973, Salming quickly established himself as
an elite defenseman known for his remarkable puck control, smooth skating, and tough,
physical play. Over his 16-season career, Salming recorded 150 goals and 787 points, earning
six All-Star selections and becoming a cornerstone of the Maple Leafs’ blue line. He was
inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996, cementing his legacy as a pioneer for European
players in the NHL.
