Meeting the rival US in the gold medal finals at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Team Canada sealed the victory with a 5-2 win to claim the nations first gold medal since 1952. This lot offers a ticket stub to the gold medal game, a leather Roots jacket, Team Canada hockey medallion, Team Canada Roots baseball cap and scarf, and a copy of the Sports Illustrated issue commemorating the Canadian victory with Mario Lemieux on the cover. The ticket stub is 2 1/2" x 5 1/2", and it lists the seat, date (Feb 24, 2002) and "Men's Gold Medal". The Roots jacket with collar label and "L" sizing is solid black with gorgeous gold lettering which includes a maple leaf patch to the left breast and "Gold Medal Champions", with the crest repeated on the reverse along with a 50th anniversary patch on the right sleeve and pucks with each Olympic victory on the left sleeve. The jacket, baseball cap and scarf all appear unused. The medallion is 1 1/2" in diameter and has a raised Team Canada logo with "Olympic Gold Medal Champions 2002" on the obverse, and the scores of the games on the reverse along with the limited-edition number of 2053/25,000. The Sport Illustrated remains in like-new condition, and it is ideal for display with the items.
