Defeating Canada 5-3 to claim gold on home ice, Czechoslovakia earned the nation's 6th title at the 1985 IIHF World Championships. Held in Prague, this was the 50th anniversary of the World Championships tournament, with an impressive average attendance of over 10,000 per game. We present a 1985 IIHF World Championship gold medal. Measuring 2 3/4" in diameter with the original blue and yellow ribbon attached and "1985" to the bail, "World Championships" appears in raised letters circling the perimeter on the obverse along with two generic players. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo with crossed hockey sticks on the reverse, it is encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters. The medal displays beautifully and remains in near mint condition.
