Named after William Thayer Tutt, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation from 1966-1969, the Thayer Tutt Trophy was an international hockey tournament which allowed nations to compete that didn't qualify for the Olympic Games. The tournaments took place in 1980, 1984 and 1988. We present complete sets of gold, silver and bronze medals for the 1984 and 1988 tournaments (6 medals in total). The 1984 gold (won by East Germany), silver (won by Switzerland) and bronze (won by Romania) medals measure 2 1/2" in diameter with the original blue and yellow ribbon attached to each and "1984" to the bails, with "Tutt Trophy" appearing in raised letters circling the perimeter of each on the obverse along with two generic players. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo with crossed hockey sticks on each reverse, they are encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters. The medals displays beautifully and all remain in near mint, like new condition, with each in the original plastic pouch. The 1988 gold (won by Italy), silver (won by Japan) and bronze (won by Netherlands) medals measure 2 3/4" in diameter with the original blue and yellow ribbon attached to each and "1988" to the bails, with "World Championships" appearing in raised letters circling the perimeter of each on the obverse along with two generic players. Featuring a painted globe IIHF logo with crossed hockey sticks on each reverse, they are encompassed by "International Ice Hockey Federation" in matching style raised letters. The medal displays beautifully and remain in near mint condition, with just the silver medal showing a bit of surface wear.
