Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Debuting at the grand opening of the fourth incarnation of the Quebec Skating Rink in 1878, the Quebec Bulldogs are noted historically as one of the first organized hockey clubs, and in the grand tradition of 19th century sporting endeavors, the Bulldogs were an amateur club for the majority of their existence. Members of the burgeoning NHA beginning in 1910-11, the Bulldogs captured Stanley Cup championships in both 1912 and 1913. This composite cabinet photo features members of the Quebec Bulldogs, Stanley Cup champions in 1912 and defenders of their title in the spring of 1913. Captain and scoring star Joe Malone is pictured near the top, slightly above his team, with an image of Lord Stanley's grail centered. At 12” x 16” and affixed to a slightly larger mount, "Beaudry Photo Quebec" is listed beneath "Champions of the World". There is some light fading to the image, with just a few small blemishes visible. There is also handwritten notations and some discolouration on the reverse. This is truly one of the greatest hockey teams of the early 20th century.
