Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
The last active player upon his retirement in 2004 that witnessed action in the WHA, Mark Messier is a veteran of over 1700 regular season NHL games, with appearances made in an astounding 15 All-Star Games to go along with six Stanley Cup Championships. Offered here, is this stick used by Messier during his time with the Rangers in the early-1990s, circa 1993. A Louisville CXS aluminum model, “Messier” appears stamped over the stem of the inserted wooden blade, with the original black tape over the handle/knob as well as the blade. Additionally, Messier has signed the forehand side of the blade with a gorgeous flowing silver ink signature that displays without issue and is made out “To Bob” with “93” added at the end, presumably for the year. The stick shows light game-use with a small number of marks/abrasions over the shaft, heel and blade tape with the tape exhibiting tears to both sides as well as the bottom edge.
