Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
First retiring with a better than 2 points per game average – the only player in history to do so, Mario Lemieux originally said goodbye to the hockey world following the 1997 Staley Cup playoffs, and made his triumphant return three seasons later, scoring 76 points in 43 games in 2000-01. From his majestic return to the NHL, we have signed photo-matched gloves worn by Lemieux in 2000-01. Nike models in solid black with “Lemieux 66” embroidered to each, the pair shows moderate use including marks and light wear to the palms, with no holes or damage. Lemieux has signed each over the wrist guard in gold, with both signatures a bit “rubbed” from handling. Getty Image #1154149047 (Feb 11, 2001) has been matched to the dark mark through the white Nike logo on the thumb of the right glove. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
