Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
A true witness to the glory years of the sport’s greatest and all-time most successful franchise, countless Habs legends have grasped and lifted the handle as they ventured from bench to ice surface, from obscurity to immortality. This solid wood and metal gateway to the home team's bench remains in the same condition in which it appeared during the Canadiens' final game at the Montreal Forum, a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars on March 11, 1996. At total dimensions of approx 20” x 8” x 30, the door's solid metal handle and latch remain intact along with the huge metal hinges on the left side of the reverse of the door, which is painted solid Canadiens blue. The top of the board is finished in solid red, with years of wear shown in the form of scratches and surface wear to the finish. An especially heavy and historic piece, relics from the best hockey venue in history have all but completely dried-up in the hobby, making this offering substantial. A Forum COA and original auction catalog will accompany the artifact, and please note that due to the weight, special shipping arrangements may be required.
