Classic collectibles that always pique the interest of those who are enthusiastic about them are 1964-65 Topps cards, with the intriguing details of this assembly as follows. Three of the tough short prints are among the six-pack of encapsulated entries, with 72-Dornhoefer RC at VG-EX 4 and joined by VG 3 examples of 74-Villemure and 98-Hicke. Also at VG-EX 4 is the last card, 110-Hall All-Star, while commoners 30-McKenzie (EX-MT 6) and 97-Marshall (EX 5) are superior. The raw rest mirror the slabbed contributors and we’d say VG+ to VG-EX+ cards come around the most often, with however VG (and a few lesser) and EX-or-better cards also involved. Most notable among stars making it to EX in our book are 68-Jacques Plante, 89-Gordie Howe and 102-Tim Horton, with EX SPs of 48-Richard, 58-Williams, 59-Pilote, 73-Maki and 80-Rousseau, edged by 92-Paille RC at EX+. Noteworthy VG elements are SPs 20-Hull, 33-Beliveau, 91-Nesterenko and 106-Mikita AS, as well as 107-Hull AS. Similar-looking but lowered by a smidgeon of paper loss (front) is 1-Martin RC, with 105-Horton AS SP also low grade (G), as is 109-Pilote AS (writing – front, paper loss – back). The checklists are unmarked and VG (54-1st Series) and G (2nd Series) respectively. Obvious creases are minimal throughout (roughly a dozen cards), making for an upper low grade to mid-grade set, sure to provide you with several possibilities.
A swell bonus is an autograph of deceased Hall of Famer Marcel Pronovost, penned to his (#39)(SP) card.
