A 17-year veteran of the Boston Red Sox, Tim Wakefield baffled hitters with his fluttering knuckleball that would eventually help the Red Sox break the “Curse of the Bambino” with World Series Championships in 2004 and 2007. Presented here are a pair of Wakefield’s 2011 game-used cleats and signed Red Sox jersey. The cleats, made by Reebok, hail from the 2011 season, Wakefield’s last in the Majors. Showing light game wear with some mound dirt still caked into the spikes, these size 11.5 cleats have Wakefield’s number “49” embroidered on the outside of each boot. The right cleat has black ink marks on the outside as well as on the bottom of the sole. The jersey is made by Majestic still has the tags attached with some light wear around the collar. The front is stylized with the familiar Red Sox wordmark on the front and Wakefield’s number “49” on the reverse while the sleeves of the jersey carry the 2004 and 2007 World Series patches respectively. The back number “4” has been signed by Wakefield in silver ink with an added “04/07 WS Champs” inscription. The signature and inscription display without issue. An MLB hologram numbered “FJ925939” has been affixed to the bottom of the back number “4”.
