Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Led from behind the bench by HOFer and future NHL president Red Dutton, the New York Americans finished in second place in the Canadian Division in 1937-38, and after defeating the crosstown Rangers in the Quarterfinals, lost to the eventual Stanley Cup-champion Black Hawks in the Stanley Cup Semifinals. We offer a 1937-38 Amerks Christmas card signed by deceased HOFer Sweeney Schriner (captain, led the Americans in goals and points in 1937-38), Earl Robertson (led the team in wins with 19) and Tommy Anderson (fifth in team scoring in 1937-38). At 5 ½” x 8 ½”, the fold-over card features a mounted 3” x 6” team photo with all the player’s listed, with a large facsimile signature of Dutton. All three have signed near the team photo in black ink, with toning taking place to the card and photo, with glue/paper residue on the reverse from scrapbook removal.
