Climbing the ranks in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting, Kris Newbury was drafted by San Jose in 2002 but made his NHL debut for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2006-07. Dressing for four different NHL clubs throughout his career, Newbury would also spend considerable time in the AHL. From his rookie season with the blue and white, where he saw action in 15 regular-season games, we have a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey worn by Newbury in 2006-07. A CCM label with “54” sizing is affixed to the collar, with Reebok and NHL crests over the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with the familiar Leafs team crest with embroidered detailing, “54” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in oversized layered tackle twill, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. Sporting light game-use with burns to the lower sleeves and a resulting small unrepaired hole to the left elbow, there is also minor pilling beneath the fight strap, with just a slight tear to the collar. Getty Image #73163765 (Jan 13, 2007) appears to show the damage over the left elbow, with the placement correct, but the image is not clear enough to call a definitive photo-match. A MeiGray patch numbered “D11573” is affixed to the inside hem with a matching LOA to accompany, and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “Blue Set 1” specimen.
