Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Arriving on the NHL scene with similar advance billing and lofty expectations as legends Beliveau, Orr and Lafleur, Mario Lemieux performed brilliantly during his illustrious career, his offensive arsenal landing him alongside the three icons, and others, in the Hockey Hall of Fame and rendering his rookie card a must-have for serious collectors. This example of card #9 in O-Pee-Chee's 1985-86 issue features an image right of center but otherwise has very little to find fault with and has earned KSA's mark of 8.5 NMM+. Four sharp corners and an apparent unblemished surface are attributes, with a minuscule (bottom) edge ding (below the "MA" of Mario's name) likely denying a MINT verdict. An attractive specimen awaits your encapsulated Mario/RC shrine, with light scuffing (in the area of the gloves) to mention in regards to the KSA holder itself. It also should be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those of PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this card through any of those services therefore would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
