Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

The Montreal Expos, first-year Toronto Blue Jays and dozens of stars and Hall of Famers star here, with a complete 264-card 1977 O-Pee-Chee set offered in uncut sheet form. An important change occurred when the Blue Jays joined the Major Leagues in ‘77, with OPC deciding to reduce its baseball card set size from the previous (three years) 660 all the way down to 264. Numerous youngsters, (this writer included) were not at all impressed and downright mad but it did make for more stars being pulled from packs. One of the sheets includes four HOFers and one should-be side-by-side-by-side (second horizontal row from the top), while cards of Reggie Jackson and Nolan Ryan are one above the other in the top left quadrant. We count 23 HOFers on it and eight on the other sheet – neat. The latter sheet exhibits more wear, with multiple rows affected by side-to-side creasing, with the better (star-studded) sheet not necessarily free of creases. As you see, the backs are indeed printed, offering numerous possibilities. Representing a landmark(!) OPC issue, these displays, like most uncut sheets, are thought and memory-provoking.
