Releasing 14 studio albums since 1976 and realizing sales of 150-170 million records, U2 remains one of the world most popular bands, having won the most Grammy Awards in history with 22. Presented here is this framed display lot of two. The first frame was presented to Island Records by the RIAA to commemorate more than 5 million sales of U2’s “Achtung Baby”. A platinum record is found in the middle of the display that measures out to dimensions of 17” x 25”. Cut outs of the album cover decorate the top of the piece with each having individual sales number plaques underneath each one. The bottom of the piece shows a CD and a cassette tape in similar platinum style with the cassette labeled as “multi-platinum sales award” while a biographical text plaque is found in the middle of all three items. The frame shows light wear. Secondly, is a framed metal master plate from the U2 album “Rattle and Hum”. In a sleek black frame, the metal plate is found in the center under a black matte while a plaque displaying the logo for Island Records, the album cover, and album information is found underneath. The original cardboard sleeve for the plate is also included in the lot. Measuring out to dimensions of 17” x 21”, the frame displays light wear throughout while the piece is accompanied by a COA from Heritage.
