Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Already dubbed “Le Magnifique” prior to his big league debut, Montreal native Mario Lemieux did not disappoint in his first NHL campaign following his record-breaking junior career with the Laval Voisins, his rookie season statistics of 43 goals and an even 100 points appearing here on the back of this attractive 1985-86 Topps rookie card. The young star then thoroughly impressed his peers with 141 points (second only to Gretzky) in his second season ('85-86), evidenced by them voting Lemieux recipient of the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the league's outstanding player as selected by the NHL Players' Association, ending a four-year run by Edmonton's #99. This example of card #9 earned a mark of NM-MT 8 at PSA several years ago, with a light touch observed at the top left corner. Numerous scratches to the front and back of the PSA holder are to be aware of.
