Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the team’s entry into the league in 1924 – the first American club to join the NHL, we offer a Boston Bruins jersey from the 1973-74 NHL season, with use attributed to Doug Roberts and Bob Gryp. Wilson labeling with handwritten “50” sizing and listed “74” is affixed to the collar. Featuring the famous spoked-B team crest fully administered in layered tackle twill, “28” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the Bruins’ 50th anniversary crest to the left shoulder. The jersey also sports a dual-garter fight strap. As the numbers on the reverse are quite elevated, the jersey would have been worn in non-televised contests, as there is no room for a nameplate. Exhibiting nice game-use with wear to the material throughout, there are a few faint stains to the team crest, with a rust-coloured stain near the left elbow along with a stick mark across the numbers on the right sleeve. Additionally, due to the heavy pilling to the interior, the jersey was likely recycled by the club in some capacity. Possibly worn by Doug Roberts and/or Bob Gryp, Roberts saw action in seven games for the Bruins in 1973-74, while Gryp played in just a single contest. A letter will accompany.
