Celebrating the man responsible for arguably the greatest trophy in all of sport, we have a spectacular silver presentation medal produced for Lord Stanley’s appointment as Guild Mayor of Preston in 1902, with this desirable example featuring the original Spink & Son display case. At 2” in diameter and with a thickness of 1/8”, "To commemorate the celebration of guild merchant” encompasses the obverse in raised letters along with a coat of arms, with raised portraits of Lord and Lady Stanley on the reverse along with additional text, with “Spink & Son” engraved beneath the cameo portraits. Sporting surface wear which includes a few small scratches, the medallion remains in beautiful condition. The original 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” flip-top case shows wear and sports a Preston Guild Merchant emblem in gilt along with “1902” on the cover, with a Spink & Son logo with their Piccadilly address in London on the reverse.
