Among the elite featured in O-Pee-Chee’s initial 1933-34 hockey card effort is hockey giant Frank “King” Clancy, a star defencemen and two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Ottawa Senators who Maple Leafs’ boss Conn Smythe paid big bucks to acquire in 1930, rating Clancy as the best in the game and the drawing card he needed to attract fans to his new Maple Leaf Gardens a year later. This Clancy will attract high grade pre-war card lovers’ attention, its (Pop 11) EX-MT 6 grade bettered by just six unqualified examples in the history of PSA. Clancy delivered in Toronto, helping the Leafs to Stanley Cup glory in 1931-32 and spent most of the rest of his life affiliated with Toronto. This Clancy will deliver satisfaction when it arrives, with a few small subtle scratches to the lower front of the PSA holder to note.
