A two-time All-American with Cornell, Joe Nieuwendyk was presented with the Calder Memorial for his remarkable rookie season in 1987-88, where he scored 92 points in 72 games. The Oshawa native would win Stanley Cup championships with three different clubs, and earn enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. From his first of two seasons with Florida to close out his career, we have a photo-matched Panthers alternate captain’s jersey worn by Nieuwendyk in 2005-06. A label with “56” sizing sits along the collar, with embroidered NHL and Reebok crests over the bottom hem and reverse neckline respectively. Styled with an attractive and multi-coloured Panthers’ team crest in tackle twill, “25” appears over the sleeves and verso in white twill with red trim, with alternate crests over each shoulder along with “Nieuwendyk” arching across the upper reverse. Each lower sleeve seam has also been customized. Getty Image #56690699 (Jan 26, 2006) has been matched to the white threading anomoly visible within the lower left blue border of the “2” of “25” on the right sleeve. The team patch resides on the inside hem along with a date swatch and MeiGray patch numbered “C04171”, and according to their population report, the jersey is a “Third Set 1 w/A” specimen. An LOA will accompany.
